From the moment we entered the meticulously maintained facility, it was clear that our partnership with HVP Kigalo was built on a robust alignment of values. The dedication to provide high-quality services in an organized, clean space was palpable, further reflected in their efficient use of ICRC components and low-cost alternatives from international suppliers.
Being located on a hill in the bustling city of Kigali, the clinic’s careful organisation and maintenance have made it a beacon of hope for those in need. With separate areas for different activities, ramps for easy access, and a well-stocked facility, they have left no stone unturned to ensure a comprehensive, accessible, and efficient service.
While some equipment issues were reported, we were delighted to hear of an upcoming collaboration with Swiss Limbs to address this. Further, the integrated services within the facility, including links with local services, position the clinic as a one-stop solution for individuals with limb differences.
While the clinic is doing a phenomenal job, there were notably fewer patients than expected for such a large centre. This suggests potential visibility issues, hinting at the need for additional efforts to raise awareness about their services.
Our visit to HVP Gikondo Kigali reaffirmed our belief in the power of aligned missions and values. We left inspired by their commitment to patient care and eager to see what the future holds for this clinic and its dedicated team.
