Inspiring Amputee Stories

Losing a limb in Africa does not only have practical implications such as restricting mobility and the opportunity of employment, but there is also the accepted belief that people with disabilities are less capable than able bodied peers. This is a stigma which is seeded in experience. Without mobility aids, support services and forward thinking, both able bodied people and disabled will continue to see disability as an insurmountable problem rather than a series of smaller issues which can be overcome.

Alieo lost his leg when working for the police and due to his concerns of how his former colleagues might see him, he has moved department. Legs4Africa believes that it is unacceptable for anyone to feel ashamed and wants to work to help people, both disabled and abled, to see disability in a more positive light.
