What are the challenge rules?
- 1000 miles, 365 days: The Nile Trailblazer Challenge is all about endurance and dedication. Over the course of a year, challenge yourself to complete 1000 miles of walking or running. That’s the distance from the south coast of the UK to the Northern Shore of Africa! You can track your progress using smartphone apps or fitness trackers, and you can count any walking or running you do as part of your day-to-day life as well as challenge-specific walking.
- Promoting a healthy lifestyle: This challenge isn’t just about supporting Legs4Africa – it’s also about promoting a healthy lifestyle and making positive changes in your own life. Walking or running regularly is a great way to improve your fitness and wellbeing, and the challenge of completing 1000 miles over a year will push you to be more active and stay motivated.
- Embark on a journey of a thousand miles: As you take on this challenge, you’ll be following in the footsteps of the ancient explorers who charted the course of the Nile river. Along the way, you’ll see stunning landscapes, encounter new people and cultures, and challenge yourself in ways you never thought possible. So grab your walking shoes and get ready to blaze a trail!
- Make an impact on people’s lives: Every step you take as part of the Nile Trailblazer Challenge is helping to support Legs4Africa and make a real difference in the lives of those living with limb differences. As you walk or run, imagine yourself following the path of the mighty Nile river, whose waters have sustained life and inspired countless generations. By completing this challenge, you’ll be adding your own chapter to the story of this great river and helping to bring hope and healing to those who need it most.
Here are five ways participants can track their progress with the challenges
- Get yourself a funky fitness tracker! Whether you’re taking on the Sahara Desert Dash, the Nile Trailblazer Challenge, or the Kilimanjaro Warrior Weekend, a fitness tracker will help you keep tabs on your steps and distance covered. Just strap it on and get ready to strut your stuff!
- Use a smartphone app to get on the right track! Whether you’re running, walking, cycling, or pushing yourself to the limit in any other limb-powered way, there’s an app for that! Strava, MapMyRun, and Runkeeper are just a few of the great apps out there that can help you track your progress towards your challenge goal.
- Count your steps with a pedometer! Keep it old school with a trusty pedometer clipped to your clothing or worn on your wrist. This simple device can help you track your daily steps and distance, making it a great tool for any of the Legs4Africa challenges.
- Get yourself a GPS watch and go the distance! For those taking on the Nile Trailblazer Challenge or the Kilimanjaro Warrior Weekend, a GPS watch can be a real game-changer. With GPS technology, you can track your location and measure your distance covered, helping you stay on course and reach your goals.
- Use online tracking tools to stay on track! Whether you’re taking on a challenge on JustGiving or another fundraising platform, there are online tracking tools available to help you keep tabs on your progress and share it with others. These tools are a great way to stay motivated and connected with other participants as you journey towards your challenge goal.

Hello friends and family!
I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be embarking on the Nile Trailblazer Challenge to raise funds for Legs4Africa, an inspiring organization committed to improving the lives of individuals living with limb differences.
The Challenge: The Nile Trailblazer Challenge is a year-long commitment where I’ll walk or run a total of 1000 miles. That’s the distance from the south coast of the UK to the Northern Shore of Africa! As I complete this challenge, I’ll be following in the footsteps of the ancient explorers who traversed the Nile river. I’ll track my progress using fitness apps and count both my daily activities and challenge-specific activities toward my goal.
How Your Support Helps: Every donation you make to my fundraising campaign will directly support Legs4Africa. This incredible organization provides prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation, and assistance to people who have lost their limbs due to illness, accidents, or conflict. Your generous support will help change lives by giving individuals the opportunity to walk, work, and live more independently.
How to Support: If you’d like to help me reach my fundraising goal, please click the “Donate” button on my fundraising page. Any amount, big or small, will make a difference in the lives of those living with limb differences. Your support will not only help me achieve my challenge but also empower those who need it most.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. Together, we can make a lasting impact and support Legs4Africa in changing lives for the better!
With gratitude, [Your Name]
