Meet Legs’ latest gold badge winners and top fundraisers of 2019 – Owen and Charlie! They both took part in the Superhero Series Triathlon and Winter Wonderwheels events.
Between them, they ran 6k, cycled 3k and swam 150 meters – raising enough to get 108 legs over to Africa, meaning 108 people can have the opportunity to walk, work and live life to the full again.
Here, we asked them a few questions about why they chose to use their legs for Africa last year…
Why did you choose to take part in Superhero Series?
Charlie – I wanted to help people get a prosthetic leg and have the chances I’ve had.
Owen – I wanted to support my friend Charlie and have the opportunity to raise money for a great cause.
How did you find the events?
Charlie – the run is the best bit and was great fun.
Owen – loved it – loved the support from the crowd and it gives you a huge adrenaline boost.
What was the best thing about taking part?
Charlie – the whole event is really fun and you get a nice medal at the end.
Owen – I loved the feeling of crossing the finish line at the end and the feeling it gave me.
What would you tell people who might want to do the triathlon or the run this year?
Charlie – it is great fun and there are lots of fun things to do there too.
Owen – just go for it! It’s great fun and raises money for a good cause. Plus you get a stunning medal and it makes you feel very proud.
