When Tony reached out to us at the start of 2020 explaining that he’d recently become retired from a career of working on the railway and wanted to remain useful, we knew straight away that he was going to fit in.
With Men’s Sheds groups not meeting like they used to and our pile of prosthetic legs (to be dismantled) growing Tony got to work and enjoyed isolating himself in the workshop with some allen keys and spanners.
Thanks to Tony, we’ve been able to keep on top of the dismantling without the workshop becoming too chaotic.
As Tony has gone above and beyond this year to help us out in the workshop as well as taking components home to fix we deciced that he was worthy of joining the elite Gold Badge holders club.
Nice work Tony, you’re a diamond!
I was so surprised in receiving the award. It really was a special moment for me and it really means a lot. Working with you guys has made me realise how lucky I am to have the health service behind me. I can’t do as much as I want to due to health problems. But I’ll be increasing my help as my health increases for as long as I’m needed. I feel proud to be a part of such a positive project, with such wonderful caring people running the charity. I was made to feel very welcome and part of the team right from the very first time I set foot (I’ve only got one foot)!!!Tony Stokes
