Walking back to school

Sue PownallGhana, Little Legs

Leticia was 8 years old and was playing outside with her little sister when a drunk driver ran into them with his vehicle.  Leticia lost her right leg instantly and although the doctor thought he would be able to save her left leg, complications later meant that she would lose this leg as well.  She finally had her left leg amputated when she was 11.

Now a double amputee, Leticia has been attending the Orthopaedic Training Centre in Ghana where, thanks to the Little Legs in England and sent to the centre by Legs4Africa, she has learned to walk again while the ongoing support she receives from the OTC has helped her become more positive about the future.

Her dreams of going back to school and eventually earn a living so she can support herself look as though they will become a reality.
